I look forward to working with you!
The most important factor for successful therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. So, how should you choose a therapist to ensure an excellent working relationship?
The best suggestion is to seek a therapist who has personal experience and insight into the issues you are struggling with, someone who can understand what you are going through because of her own challenges and successes.
Through my own 60-ish years of life experience, I have helped clients work through difficult issues, many of which I have also faced, including grief, anxiety, and life-changing transitions (such as retirement, divorce, relocation and illness). Some clients seek counseling when faced with end-of-life issues for themselves or their partner, or when moving a loved one to a new home in an assisted-living or memory-care residence. I also work with clients who are challenged by depression and sexual functioning.
Some clients are anxious to free themselves from nagging issues of the past, while others struggle to discern the best path for their future. I support couples who want to increase intimacy, or who are struggling to keep their marriage alive, and I help couples who have already decided to separate to do so as respectfully as possible.
I have significant experience with the “50+” population, and the various difficult life issues that accompany our aging process. Health challenges can cause roles to shift from partners to patient/caregiver, and entering our senior years nudges people to free themselves from old hurts and betrayals, to find peace with issues and concerns that have bothered them for a long time.
Clients have described my style as warm, direct, motivating and kind. Be assured that in my office you will find compassion, kindness, knowledge, strength, and no judgement. As a registered marriage and family therapist intern for the state of Florida, I am deeply committed to helping people improve the quality of their lives and relationships. I work closely with each of my clients to understand their goals and meet their needs. I also have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology for Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as advanced training in several modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Somatic healing for trauma, and the Neurobiology of healing.
Shall we work together? Give me a call and let’s chat.
Warmly,
Linda
